Dr Richard Newbury is an experienced Gastroenterologist based in Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty. His experience has been gained over many years of training and practice in the UK and in New Zealand.
His private practice works out of Southern Cross Hospital Rotorua and as Consultant Gastroenterologist, Lakes DHB, Rotorua since 2009. Richard also now has a clinic located in Taupo.

The other half of Lakes Endoscopy and Gastroenterology Services is Dr Newbury’s assistant Jai Kreyl.
Jai is very familiar with the gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures not only from her years of making these bookings through Lakes DHB but also from the many procedures she has had herself.
These follow a precautionary course having lost her Mother to stomach cancer and her Father to Bowel cancer; therefore you will receive very empathetic and understanding communication from Jai during your interactions with her for whatever reason your appointment is for.

The aim of Dr Newbury/Lakes Endoscopy and Gastroenterology Services is to see both current and new patients with the least delay.
We recognise the importance of being available to provide Specialist Gastroenterology services when a consultation is sought by your GP on your behalf, or directly by yourself in many circumstances.
Typically we are able to see you in clinic within 1 to 2 weeks, with earlier provision for urgent cases.
